Our approach to community development through the arts is based on Founding Director Valerie Martinez's long and deep experience with large-scale projects since 2006.
Learning from successes and challenges, over the years, we have developed a collaborative approach which works to harness the capacity generated by team-led arts engagement and channel it into community-led development initiatives.
We work in community-based teams (artists and residents who live in each neighborhood) through an unusual, dynamic and participatory process. We also pay our team members both for training and engagement.
The work is careful, sustained and long-term. It rests firmly in the strengthening of social fabric through creative collaboration which leads to art and other community-based projects.
