CALL FOR YOUTH ARTIST TEAM COORDINATOR
5-10 hrs/week; $20/hour
Contract position (no benefits), January-May 2018
Artful Life seeks a Project Coordinator for the International District Youth Team. The coordinator will work with a group of 7 teens (ages 15-18) to envision, design, plan and install exciting pop-up works of art in the Int’l District neighborhood of Albuquerque, New Mexico from January-May 2018. The team meets in the Int’l District on Sunday afternoons and additional project work will take place in the neighborhood (between Lomas to Gibson, and San Mateo and Wyoming Blvds).
The ID Youth Team was formed in October of 2017 and consists of teens who live in ABQ’s International District. From October-December the team underwent team-building, collaborative art-making and community outreach activities. Starting in January, the team will design, plan and implement pop-up works of art that will enliven neighborhood spaces in the district. Learn more at www.artful-life.org.
Qualified candidates will have experience working with youth, coordinating projects (preferably art-related), and engaging with a diverse general public in positive, tolerant and respectful ways. Applicants will also be highly organized, dependable, detail-oriented, creative, and able to work with people of all backgrounds, ages, abilities and personalities. Candidates must be committed to the health and welfare of the International District community. Preference will be given to candidates who live in or near the district though applicants living elsewhere may also apply. The coordinator will report to the Project Director.
